Dr. Bharat Babu Shrestha has more than 18 years of teaching and research experience. He completed his PhD in Botany from Tribhuvan University, Nepal in 2010. He is a recipient of two prestigious scholarships: International Cooperation and Development (CICOPS) Scholarship for researching at the University of Pavia, Italy, and Association for International Exchange Scholarship to study Japanese Language at Soka University, Tokyo. Dr. Shrestha was awarded the Young Scientist Award from the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), Nepal and Asian-Pacific Weed Science Society, Cairns, Australia. He has conducted several research projects in collaboration with many national and international organizations. So far, Dr. Shrestha has published 50 + peer-reviewed scientific papers. He is an Associate Professor at the Central Department of Botany, Tribhuvan University, Nepal where he teaches and supervises masters’ degree and Ph.D. students. He also serves as a member of the editorial board of Weed Biology and Management journal and other professional societies in Nepal and abroad. His academic interests include invasion ecology, plant adaptation, and forest ecology. He is one of the pioneer researchers on invasive alien plant species of Nepal.
