Dr. MeghnathDhimalcompleted PhD in Geosciences (Environmental Health Sciences) from Goethe University, Germany in 2015 and MSc in Environmental Science from Tribhuvan University, Nepal in 2004. He is a recipient of a prestigious DAAD fellowship for his PhD. His career objective is to contribute to global health. A primary focus of his research is on the nexus between environmental risk factors including climate change and associated health outcomes (NCDs and NTDs). He had more than fifteen years of research experience on environmental and public health in Nepal and made a substantial contribution to developing national health policies, plans, and strategies related to environmental health and climate change in Nepal. He worked at Nepal Health Research Council, Government of Nepal as a Chief Research Officer for 15 years and at Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main, Germany, as a Guest Scientist for two years. Currently, he is supervising PhD students from Australia, Germany, and Belgium. He has also served as an adviser to the World Health Organization (WHO)on the role of climate change in global health and as a health expert. He has worked in Nepal, Maldives, and Timor-Leste as a policy advisor and a climate and health consultant.

Dr. Dhimalwas awarded the ‘Young Scientists Award’ by the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), Nepal in 2015; BidhyaBhusanKa in 2016 by the Government of Nepal, and MrigendraSamjhanaMedical Trust Young Health Research Award in 2018. He was a winner of New Voices in Global Health Programmeof World Health Summit 2017 and a member of Global Young Academy where he is a chair of the Global Health Working group. He has assisted as a member of various technical working groups and on steering committees, and participated in a number of national and international conferences, meetings, and summits such as World Health Summit held in Asia, Europe and the United States. Besides these, he serves as an Associate Editor of Global Health Section of BMC Public Health Journal and Board Member of the Journal of Health and Social Sciences. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed journal papers, essays, technical reports and articles in the popular press and served as a peer reviewer of more than two dozen reputed Journals.
