Observed weather and projected climate change suggest increases in the transmission of vector-borne diseases (VBDs) in the Hindu Kush Himalayan (HKH) region. GIIS researcher Dr. Meghnath Dhimal and his team explored it through a systematic literature review and found that the significant positive associations of VBDs with climatic factors such as temperature, precipitation, relative humidity, etc. Based on the evidence, the authors recommend an expansion of vector control and surveillance programs in previously considered non-endemic areas of the HKH region.
