Dr. Ramesh Sunam is an interdisciplinary researcher and policy expert with a social science background. His research focuses on international migration (both regular and irregular), poverty, rural transformation, food security, and human dimensions of environmental change. Dr. Sunam has extensively published 15+ peer-reviewed articles in leading international journals, including Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, Journal of Peasant Studies, Anthropological Forum, and Society and Natural Resources. He has carried out various assignments with international agencies including the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection, Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI), and Forest Action, Nepal. Dr. Sunam earned Ph.D. from the Crawford School of Public Policy at the Australian National University (ANU), Australia in 2015 and MSc in Environmental Management and Development from the ANU with ‘the most outstanding student’ award.
