Assessment on priority habitat mapping and livelihood support mechanisms in Nepal’s western lowland protected areas and buffer zone

This project has three major objectives:

  1. Examine the effectiveness of protected areas by using different indicators of land use and land cover change, habitat quality, anthropogenic pressure, human wildlife conflicts and map the priority areas for habitat management for Shuklaphanta, Bardia, Banke national park. 
  2. Assess the existing and potential mechanism of livelihood support through participatory resource mapping in 20 targeted BZUCs of western lowland protected areas (Shuklaphanta, Bardia, and Banke national park). 
  3. Explore the human – wildlife conflict and prepare climate – change – aware, participatory conflict mapping within the Nepal’s lowland protected areas (Shuklaphanta, Bardia, Banke, Chitwan, Parsa, Koshi Tappu)
