First National Conference on Invasive Alien Species Management in Nepal
The event is organized by the Ministry of Forests and Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, coordinated by the Forest Research and Training Centre, with participation from various organizations including TU-Central Department of Botany, REDD-IC, Forests for Prosperity Project, UNDP, Forest Action, NAST, FAO, REDDA, WWF Nepal, ILAM, Zoological Society of London (ZSL), NTNC, BCN, Department of Forests and Soil Conservation, Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation, and Forest Science Study Institute. The First National Conference on Invasive Alien Species (COP-I) will take place on Mangsir 26–27.Not only financial support but also any kind of technical and scientific assistance from organizations and institutions is welcome.The deadline to submit scientific abstracts (Paper Abstracts) for presentations is November 15. We kindly request everyone to send their abstracts promptly via email (info@frtc.gov.np or sunitaulak@gmail.com).
As invasive species are becoming a national-level crisis, it is necessary for all stakeholders to actively participate. Infrastructure-related organizations—Department of Roads, Department of Electricity Development, Nepal Electricity Authority, municipalities, Agriculture Department, Horticulture Offices, Flower Nurseries, Quarantine Offices, Customs, Provincial Forest Ministries, etc.—all need to collaborate and coordinate.Stakeholders, farmers, forest users, forestry technicians, researchers, academics, and university students from across the country who wish to participate and contribute scientifically or practically are requested to inform us either through this announcement or via the emails mentioned above.Division Forest Offices and technical staff from Agricultural Knowledge Centres who wish and are able to participate at their own expense are warmly invited. Your contribution will be a significant part of this grand event.
