GIIS team participated in the international young scientists conference
A team of research fellows from the Global Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies (GIIS) participated in the International Youth Conference on Science, Technology, and Innovation (IYCSTI) held on 21-23 October 2019 in Kathmandu, Nepal. The conference jointly organized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST), Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) and National Youth Council (NYC) aims to convene Nepali Scientists to share their specific knowledge, skills, and experiences on science and technology. The conference was the Vice President of Nepal, Mr. Nanda Bahadur Pun. At the conference, GIIS director and research fellow Dr. Uttam Babu Shrestha delivered a talk entitled ‘Making research relevant to policy: The cases of climate and biodiversity’ based on his involvement in Science-Policy interface. As a thematic speaker, Dr. Meghnath Dhimal, a research fellow of GIIS presented a lecture on ‘Science for Society: How can Research and Innovation Contribute for Happiness and Prosperity?.’ GIIS research fellow, Dr. Suraj Bhattarai delivered a talk entitled ‘Building STI Expertise to Support SDGs in Nepal’ as a thematic speaker. GIIS research fellows Dr. Mandira Lamichhane and Dr. Sujata Shrestha also attended the conference. Uttam Shrestha also served as a panelist in a panel discussion’ Investment, Management of Resources and Collaboration for STI.’
