COVID-19 and Conservation: Impacts of COVID-19 on Conservation Programs in Nepal

This research will a) explore the effects of and response to the decline of NBT on conservation programs in Nepal; b) evaluate the impacts of COVID-19 on PA management, business, and local communities within and around two PAs; c) examine the status and trends of wildlife crime during COVID-19 and identify their underlying socio-economic causes. At the national level, we will conduct a systematic review, compile data on illegal activities from various sources, organize a national level workshop, administer questionnaire surveys, and analyze social media content. At the local level, we will carry out an empirical study on two PAs. This research is funded by National Geographic Society, USA
